Glendronach 18 Year Old Allardice is a prestigious single malt Scotch whisky named after the distillery's founder, James Allardice. This expression is celebrated for its depth, complexity, and luxurious flavor profile, derived from its extended maturation period in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry casks. In appearance, Glendronach 18 Year Old Allardice exhibits a rich and enticing mahogany hue, indicative of its prolonged aging process.
GlenDronach distillery is located near Forgue, Highlands. It was founded in 1826 by James Allardice.
In 1830 Walter Scott bought the distillery and in 1837 a fire destroyed it almost completely.
The following years the distillery would face an expansion and changes in the ownership status.
In 1920 Charles Grant, son of the founder of Glenfiddich distillery would be the new owner for the next 40 years where in the meantime two more stills were added, and William Teacher & Sons would buy the distillery in 1960
Then in 1996 the distillery was mothballed until 2002 when it resumed production.
In 2005 Chivas Brothers acquired the distillery and at the same time the traditional method of heating with coal fire was replaced with steam.
BenRiach Distillery Company took over three years later in 2008 until 2016 when Brown Forman becomes the new owner, until today.
GlenDronach distillery is known for the combination of the Highland character in whisky with Casks from Spain who previously held Pedro Ximenez or Oloroso sherry.
