During 1820’s a distillery was built in order to take advantage of the water of Lour Burn and Spey river.
Today’s plant was built by James Fleming in 1879 and therefore Fleming is considered the true founder of the Aberlour distillery.
Back in those days, the distillery was considered to be one of the most modern distilleries in Scotland.
By 1945, S.Campbell & Sons would buy the distillery and with two operating stills its fame continued to expand.
In 1973 the distillery increased production by adding two new stills, and in 1975 it was acquired by Pernod Ricard.
Nowadays the distillery can reach a production up to 3.5 million liters per year.
